Attorney Eva DeFranco practices primarily in the areas of divorce mediation, and collaborative divorce. A divorce lawyer for the past 33 years, she transformed her practice in 2005 to give her clients a more dignified way to divorce that preserves the integrity of the post divorce family and protects individual family members from emotional, spiritual and financial stress of litigation. Attorney DeFranco is a member of the family law section of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and past president of the Danbury Bar Association. In recognition of her leadership and service to the legal community, Attorney DeFranco was elected as a James W. Cooper Fellow, earned the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been a special master in the Danbury and Litchfield Superior Courts in family matters for decades. Attorney DeFranco earned her certification as a divorce mediator in 2007 and a collaborative divorce attorney in 2005. She is the founding member of the Collaborative Divorce Group of Western Connecticut and an advanced certified member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. She is past president and current board member of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce. As a member of the Ct Family Mediation Training Group, she teaches the 40 hour mediation training to lawyers, mental health professionals and financial professionals in Ct. She has lectured extensively on various topics of divorce mediation and collaborative divorce law.
